Uncle Sims Suite

The suite has two large rooms with high ceilings and adjacent to the sitting room is the bathroom with a shower in the tub. The fireplace is in the bedroom. The rope bed is from Texas and is circa 1860 and is high because it probably had a trundle bed underneath at one time. We no longer use the ropes-- a firm base is more comfortable. The handsome gandfather clock dates from 1900 and the pendulum is engraved with the initials of the owners. Details are available on the Antiques for Sale page.

There is  a stuffed fox in each room and the zebra head is old,  cracked and filled with plaster. The Christmas cactus belonged to Sandra's aunt and formerly lived in wolfeboro, NH.

The draperies came from the Saltonstalls, the former Senator from Massachusetts. The tapestry in the sitting room came from the Dupont family in Wilmington, DE. The portrait is of the late Norman Cartwright-Brown and was painted when he lived and taught at the Munich International School, 1970-74. The china cabinet is circa 1850 and comes from Sandra's family. The buffet belonged to Norman's family.
