I stayed here on a whim with my girlfriend when we were out motorcycling and it got a bit too cold. The owner is an amazingly nice lady, an excellent cook and great fun to talk with. The house is old and rustic but it has all the amenities and is extremely comfortable. I would recommend this place to any of my friends. The breakfast was especially excellent.
PS one of the lights in the room we booked did not work so instead we were upgraded to a much nicer room at no additional cost!!!
We decided to take a last minute weekend trip from DC with our two Jack Russell Terriers and looked for a place that would accomodate pets. The Conyers House Inn and Stable was the perfect combination of a beautiful location, warm and hospitable B&B, and extremely pet-friendly (with Alex, a Jack Russell Terrier, of their own!). The Spring House provides...More
I can't tell you how much fun it was to meet two happy, well behaved Jack Russells and have them stay in the Springhouse. I served breakfast on the saddle porch which is gated so they
I visited Conyers House 20 yrs ago on a honeymoon and I knew I'd be back. I've often thought of the Conyers House over the last two decades and seized my opportunity to return with my 2nd (new & improved) wife in 6/12.
It was very comforting to find everything exactly as I remembered. We arrived on a Tues. with reservations for the "new attic". Since we were the only visitors that day, my friend Sandra upgraded us to "Helen's room" which is "dreamy" and at the same price as the "new attic".
On both visits I felt particulary drawn to the library which is like a miniature national archives. Also, there are very tasteful renderings of our first president as well as a dignified bust which are just a few of the endless artifacts to savor here. There is NOWHERE like The Conyers House, and there is no seismic scale that can measure the good vibrations that are here. Thanks Sandra
What fun to have a former guest return and find no changes but the color of my hair. I love having guests tell me what was going on when they last came----they often remind me of adventures I have long forgotten. Glad you liked the upgrade. I like doing that when possible. Don't wait another twenty years for the next... More
Despite a scheduling error on my part, Mrs. Cartwright-Brown was extremely gracious and accommodating. We were greeted by her and her staff with the same warmth and charm that surrounds the 200 year old, very well kept, house and grounds. She took us on an equestrian adventure that lasted most of the afternoon. Her knowledge of and ease around horses...More
My beloved wanted to hike "Old Rag" mountain for his birthday. I was so glad we chose to stay at Conyers House. I remember thinking that the website's descriptions understated the beauty of the rooms I could see in the photographs--and I was right! We loved the Old Attic room's peaked ceiling and delightful furnishings and linens, fell asleep to the peepers and trickling fountain outside our half-open window, and the next morning felt very lucky to have such a beautiful view from our own little porch, which I could also enjoy screened inside from view while I took a bath in the clawfoot tub! The point of staying in a B&B in a person's home is to enjoy all the nuances that make your hosts and their home so special. Sandra is a precise and generous host. Her conversation with my beloved about his dietary needs was so kind and easygoing, resulting in exactly the kind of breakfast we both thrive on, delicious and utterly freshly prepared. We almost missed our hike's start-time because Sandra can be such an interesting person to talk to!
Room Tip: Read Sandra's descriptions online carefully. If you don't see the information you need, ask...
Our family of 4 have visited the Conyers House many times. The setting is idyllic, and a perfect getaway from Washington area. The historic home is beautiful with each of the rooms different and decorated in a lovely English country style. The owner, Sandra Cartwright-Brown is a gracious hostess and very knowledgeable about the area and the fun things to...More
Lovely bed and breakfast near beautiful Rag Mountain. Quiet. Lots of friendly pets in residence. Excellent food and the rooms have interesting reading material. Would recommend for a quiet, romantic getaway. We arranged for dinner there as well--delicious!
